Why did you join RMPCMA? I joined the RMPCMA Chapter to stay connected professionally with Industry peers through networking opportunities, attend their Educational Programs and become involved as a volunteer.
What have you found to be most beneficial being a member of RMPCMA? I have found that the Educational Programs that the RMPCMA Chapter puts together are extremely beneficial and makes this Chapter stand out within the industry.
Have you attended the National Convention? If so, # of times and what did you enjoy most? I attended my first Convening Leaders Conference in Nashville, TN, in January 2018, and I thought it was a great Conference plus I had a wonderful time!
How did you get in this business and what attracted you to this business? I got into this business as I was Fine Arts Committee Chair of the Student Union Activities Board at the University of Kansas. I planned all kinds of events on Campus. After graduating from the University, I did an Internship at a PR Company in Chicago where I helped plan Restaurant openings and I assisted with other types of events. After the Internship ended, I landed a position at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as Director of Special Events where I planned all kinds of events such as a Bachelor Bid, Stair Climbs, Bowl-A-Thons, a Casino Night, and many other events to help raise funds for this terrible disease. After two years, I moved on and worked for The American Bar Association as a Meetings Assistant followed by starting my own Business Eventful Occasions, Inc. that I ran for seven years, From there, I worked for some Meeting & Incentive companies, Sears Roebuck and Company and I have also done contract work.
How long have you lived in Colorado and what do you like most about living here? I have lived in Colorado since 2006. I moved here by choice to take advantage of the outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer. I love the mountains and I love being in them!
Favorite theater production? What did you love about it? One of my favorite theater productions was “The Lion King” as I loved the puppetry of the costumes. Another production I loved was “O!” in Las Vegas. How they created a stage that transformed from a state to a swimming pool was amazing! My third most favorite production was “Hamilton” as I saw it twice. I loved the creativity of the production in how all the songs were put into wrap and how it captured the history of Alexander Hamilton.
Favorite vacation destination and why? I am not a native of Colorado as I grew up in the North Suburbs of Chicago. The mountains brought me to Colorado! Some of my favorite vacations include Europe, Peru, Argentina and Patagonia.
